Driver CPC Training Warwickshire
What is the Driver CPC?
The EU has introduced compulsory training for all commercial drivers, who drive vehicles of more than 3.5 tonnes. Their aim is to improve road safety and fuel efficiency and to encourage driving as a career to reduce the predicted shortage of drivers in the future.
All training must be carried out at approved centres and by approved trainers. The training is monitored by the Driving Standards Agency but control is with the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT).
Mercury Recruitment has been designated as an approved training provider by JAUPT and has approved training centres nationwide.

Who is Affected?
The requirement for Driver CPC periodic training commenced in September 2009. All new drivers will be expected to complete a Driver CPC course at their initial training and thereby receive their driver competency card which is valid for 5 years. All existing drivers must complete 35 hours periodic training by September 2014. This can be taken en bloc, or 7 hours per year per driver, over the next 5 years. Planning ahead is the key so don't delay the training.
If new drivers commence during the period up to 2014, they must have completed some periodic training if not a training catch up must be taken to ensure that they are on course to complete the full 35 hours by the end of 2014. If these hours are not completed, they will be no longer able to drive as an LGV driver.
Mercury Recruitment will undertake to monitor these drivers, once information has been received, to ensure all the relevant training is provided.
Once 35 hours training has been completed by 2014, the process starts again up to 2019.
